KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 -- The government has increased the allocation to assist the Bumiputera institutions and entrepreneurs through the Budget 2020 in line with its theme of Driving Growth and Equitable Outcomes Towards Shared Prosperity.
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the allocation has been increased to RM8 billion in Budget 2020 compared to RM7.6 billion in Budget 2019.
He said the total included allocation of RM6.6 billion for Bumiputera institutions focused on education such as Universiti Teknologi MARA and Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera.
In addition, RM1 billion of financing for Bumiputera Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) such as through Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan (SJPP) and SME Bank.
“RM445 million provided for entrepreneurship programmes mainly under SMECorp, Pelaburan Hartanah, PUNB, TEKUN and TERAJU,” he said when tabling the budget in the Dewan Rakyat here today.
