ARAU, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- The National Farmers' Organisation (Nafas) has yet to receive any formal complaint on the alleged delay in supply of fertilisers to the paddy farmers in Kedah.
Nafas chairman Datuk Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi said the issue could have been just hearsay.
"When we refer here and there, there is no exact information, just hearsay. We are proactive in investigating delays because I understand that fertilisers should be applied at the right timing and right plant,” he told a press conference after the Perlis “Kasih Peladang” programme organised by Nafas here today.
Also present were Perlis Farmers’ Organisation chairman Datuk Tengku Aziz Tengku Jaafar, Perlis Farmers’ Organisation Authority director Azizul Lebai Ishak and Nafas general manager Ahmad Shaari.
Phahrolrazi said Nafas assured farmers the supply of fertilisers would be distributed to the area farmers' organisation (PPK) on schedule.
"We send the fertilisers to the PPK according to the timetable, maybe between PPK and farmers, the distribution is delayed," he said.
Phahrolrazi said paddy farmers could file a formal complaint with the PPK or state Farmers relation officer to allow further investigations on the claim.
At the event, 500 people comprising “asnaf farmers” from 11 PPK in Perlis received cash aid amounted to RM100,000.
