KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Only five companies in Kedah were given approval by the Housing and Local Government Ministry through the National Solid Waste Management Department to hold the HS 39.15 Plastic Waste import licence or approved permit (AP).
The ministry in a statement today listed the companies as Plasticycle Industries, GC Plastic and YB Enterprise in Kulim, Technology PP Industries (Northern) and Green Mark Technology in Sungai Petani.
"The companies have premises compliance letters from the Department of Environment (DOE), including the two new companies approved in August, Technology PP Industries (Northern) and Green Mark Technology," it said.
However, the ministry said it had suspended approval for the AP in the ePermit system for Technology PP Industries (Northern) pending renewal of the company’s business licence by the Sungai Petani Municipal Council.
The ministry further explained that Green Alliance Ecotech did not possess the HS 39.15 AP as alleged by the Sungai Petani Environmental Action Association.
It stressed that the local authority should carry out enforcement on companies operating without a licence such as closing down the premises.
