KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 -- Shopify has partnered with Paypal and Meekco.Asia, to upskill small and medium enterprises (SMEs), looking to be a part of the global e-commerce boom.
This follows the announcement of Shopify Creators' Market series of e-commerce educational events, offering beginner workshops and seminars for growing merchants with international keynote speakers.
Retailers will receive hands-on experience, display merchandise and participate in the community to learn, share and discuss business together, especially regarding the new retail online to offline marketing model.
According to Meekco.Asia chief executive officer and co-founder, Kah Hing, this partnership empowers Malaysian SMEs which are keen to start selling to the world.
Citing Alibaba's Singles' Day held on Nov 11 annually as the world's largest online shopping day generating RM123 billion (US$30.8 billion) in sales last year, Kah Hing said there was a lot of room for Malaysian brands and companies to take a piece of the online retail sales pie.
Open to the public, the two-day event beginning Sept 21 will be held at 3 Damansara, Petaling Jaya, allowing merchants to engage with shoppers in the mall.
A few successful online merchants powered by Shopify and Paypal, including Mossery.co, Trapo.asia and Celovis.com will exhibit their unique goods.
