Three burnt victims have yet to be identified

KUANTAN, Aug 22 --  The bodies of three burnt victims in an accident at Triang, Pekan, near here last Monday have yet to be identified because no family member has come forward to claim.

The head of Pahang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department  Supt Kamarulzaman Jusoh said the investigation by forensic experts found that no identification could be traced as no fingerprints were obtained due to the charred condition of the victim's entire body.

"However, we believe the victims were made up of a man, a woman and a boy. That is all that can be confirmed at this time," he said when contacted, here today.

At 6.15 am on Monday, all the victims were burnt to death after a Proton Wira car which was believed to be blue in colour was believed to have collided with two lorries at Kilometer 43 of Jalan Temerloh-Bahau near a petrol station in Pekan Mengkuang, Triang.

The accident was believed to have occurred when the car veered into the opposite lane and crashed into a Mitsubishi lorry before it rammed into a Hicom lorry behind it.

All the victim's bodies were taken to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HoSHAS) in Temerloh, near here.

Meanwhile, Kamarulzaman said based on a check on the car's engine number, found out that the vehicle registration number was BEG 7068 and the owner had an address in Selangor.

"However, the car was sold to several people without changing the name on the vehicle's grant," he said.

In this regard, Kamarulzaman urged the community who had information about the victim or family members to contact the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
