Two Malaysian teenagers to join Allianz Explorer Camp

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Two students, Adam Alif Mustafa and Muhammad Firdaus Amirrudin, both 16, have been selected to experience a once in a lifetime chance to be part of the Allianz Explorer Camp (AEC) – Football Edition in Munich, Germany from Aug 22 to 27.

The selections of Adam Alif, 16, from SMK Ahmad, Pekan Pahang and Muhammad Firdaus from SMK Khir Johari in Sungai Petani, Kedah were made after they impressed FC Bayern Munich Legend, Ivica Olic and FC Bayern youth trainer, Thomas Döllner at the recently concluded AEC–Football Edition in Singapore, a midway competition to discover Asia's best football talents.

“I really did not think I would be picked because I was injured during the last training session. I am happy. I have tried my best and I have made it to AEC in Munich.

"I can’t wait to meet the FC Bayern players. I also hope to learn tactical skills and bring the knowledge back to Malaysia and realise my dream of becoming a professional player,” according to Adam in the statement issued by Allianz Malaysia Berhad, today.

Echoing Adam's sentiments was Muhammad Firdaus, who was extremely proud and excited to go to Munich.

"I would like to thank all my teammates and coaches and of course my family for always supporting me," he added.

Allianz, the Germany-based insurance company, is the platinum sponsor of Bayern Munich.

During their stay in Munich, both players would live the ultimate football dream as they would get the chance to train with FC Bayern Munich’s youth coaches at the famous Saebener Strasse training ground and explore other activities beyond football.

The AEC–Football Edition in Singapore, held from July 23-26, was attended by 43 teenagers aged between 14 and 16 years old, from Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Singapore.

Only 18 out of the 43 participants were selected to join the AEC camp in Munich.
