JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- The ‘Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang’ convoy, to be flagged off tomorrow, is part of the programme to make the launch of the state-level ‘Fly the Jalur Gemilang’ campaign and National Day celebration in Johor merrier.
State Housing, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman, Dzulkefly Ahmad said the convoy would involve 133 participants in 53 vehicles from various state government departments and agencies such as the Information Department, Royal Malaysia Police, National Film Development Corporation, Civil Defence Force, Road Transport Department and the media.
The convoy will pass through Melaka and head to Muar, Parit Jawa, Semerah, Batu Pahat, Senggarang, Rengit, Benut, Ayer Baloi Pontian, Pekan Nanas, Gelang Patah and Johor Bahru," he told reporters, here, today.
Also present were State Information Department director Zainuddin Ismail and its assistant director, Iqbal Ibrahim.
Dzulkefly said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal was scheduled to launch the ‘Fly the Jalur Gemilang’ campaign on Aug 6 at the grounds of Rumah Limas Kundang Ulu, Tangkak.
On the National Day celebration, he said, it would also involve a parade at Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru on the morning of Aug 31.
"At night, there’ll be a tahlil and thanksgiving ceremony in conjunction with the state-level Maal Hijrah celebration, which will be held simultaneously at all district mosques in the state,” he added.
