KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) - The country's 15th Chief of Army, Gen (Rtd) Tan Sri Che Md Noor Mat Arshad died at the age of 76 due to metastasis cancer today.
Che Md Noor died at 2.15 pm at the Subang Jaya Medical Cente (SJMC)
A statement released by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) said that his remains were taken to the Army Basic Training Centre Mosque (PUSASDA), Port Dickson for the funeral prayers.
He was laid to rest at the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) cemetery in Port Dickson.
Che Md Noor, who had served the nation for 35 years, had held various positions in the force including Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division and Deputy Chief of Army before being appointed Chief of Army in 1995. He retired two years later.
Che Md Noor leaves behind wife Puan Sri Che Maznah Che Mahamod.
