KOTA KINABALU, July 18 (Bernama) -- The Dewan Rakyat's decision to allow Sabah to have 13 additional state seats would be a boon to the people.

Tanjung Papat assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung added, there would be more leaders to represent the local population which has increased over the years.

"The people would have more representatives to bring forward their need to the attention of the government.

“This is a good thing for all and there are seats that have more than 25,000 to 30,000 voters, which should be split,” he said here, today.

Poon said the additional seats was a reflection of the government's sincerity and commitment to help the people in the second largest state in Malaysia.

Yesterday, parliament passed a bill to increase the number of state seats in Sabah, receiving support from all 158 MPs present in the House, including Sabah lawmakers.
