Moroccan tourist fined RM2,800 for offering sex services to policeman

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Bernama) -- A Moroccan tourist was fined RM2,800 in default three months' jail by the Magistrate's Court here for offering sexual services to a policeman.

Magistrate Namirah Hanum Mohamed Albaki sentenced the accused, Layla Benakki, 20, after she pleaded guilty to the charge read to her in English by an interpreter.

According to the charge, the woman allegedly offered sex services to Lance Corporal Faizul Akmal at 11 am on July 15 at the lobby of Menara B, Times Square Building, on Jalan Legian, Dang Wangi.

The accused, who arrived in the country last month, was charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum imprisonment of one year, or fine, or both, upon conviction.
