Flood situation in Melaka continues to improve

MELAKA, July 10 (Bernama) -- The flood situation that hits a few districts in Melaka continues to improve as the number of flood victims has dropped to 153 people from 36 families as of 8 am today compared to 260 people from 66 families last night.

Melaka Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Effendy Ali said that only two temporary evacuation centres located in the Alor Gajah district were still operating.

“The two centres are the Sekolah Kebangsaan Belimbing Dalam with 138 people from 33 families and in Bukit Balai community hall, involving 15 people from three families.

“The number of flood victims is expected to continue to drop due to good weather conditions,” said Effendy who is also state Disaster Management Committee Secretariat chief, in a statement here today.
