Ing Yueh grabs bronze in World Challenge Cup

KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- It was a defining moment for national artistic gymnast, Tan Ing Yueh who bagged a surprise bronze medal in the opening series of the World Challenge Cup (WCC) Tournament 2019 in Zhaoqing, China, today.

The 23-year-old athlete accumulated 12.625 points in vault discipline in the tournament held at Zhaoqing Sports Complex, according to the Chinese Gymnastics Association website, www.gymnastics.sport.org.cn.

Yu Linmin of China took the gold with 14.625 points while Oksana Chusovitina of Uzbekistan settled for silver with 14.325 points.

Over 50 gymnastics from 11 countries are taking part in the annual tournament.

After China, the competition will take place in Osijek, Croatia from May 23-26; Koper, Slovakia (May 30-June 2); and Mersin, Turkey (Aug 30-Sept 1) before it concludes with three legs in September -- Szombathely, Hungary (Sept 6-8); Paris, France (Sept 14-15) and Guimaraes, Portugal (Sept 19-22).
