KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- The 30th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM-30) on March 30 will see 42 films competing for awards in 24 categories at the Plenary Hall of Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC).
"From the 42 films, 25 of them are Malay-language movies, eight Chinese, seven Tamil and two Cantonese," Festival Director Abdul Khalid Maulod told a press conference on FFM-30, here today.
Among the categories are Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Stories and three special awards are for the Best Backdrop Award, the Lifetime Artiste Award and the Box Office Film Awards.
Among the films eligible to compete are Police Evo 2, Tangisan Akinabalu, Paskal, Pinjamkan Hatiku, Tombiruo, One Two Jaga and Langsuir.
The FFM-30 themed 'Inspirasi Sinemaku' will feature popular comedian Nabil Ahmad and singer Adibah Noor as the hosts.
Meanwhile, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) chairman Datuk Samsuni Mohd Nor said in organising the FFM-30, an important milestone for Finas was that it involved the lowest costing.
"There's no need to expose how much it spent but the figure is quite reasonable. It's based on Finas' own ability, " he told Bernama. The FFM-30 will be aired live on Astro Ria (104) and Astro Ria HD (123) at 9 pm, March 30.
