IPOH, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Perak have been eliminated from the Asian Champions League (ACL) competition after being trounced 1-5 by Ulsan Hyundai in the third qualifying round match at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium, Ulsan, South Korea today.
Ulsan Hyundai’s goals were scored by Amirul Azhan Aznan (own goal, 23rd), Mix Diskerud (56th, 58th), Lee Dong-kyeong (70th) and Junior Negrao (87th) while Perak’s lone reply came from Nazirul Naim Che Hashim (90th).
The game, which started at 7.30pm local time, saw Perak managing to hold their own against the slick Ulsan Hyundai attack led by Brazilian Junior in the initial stages.
The South Korean side finally opened accounts after 23 minutes, when their constant pressure resulted in Amirul inadvertently turning in a cross from Kim Tae-hwan past his own goalkeeper Muhammad Hafizul Hakim.
Although Ulsan Hyundai went in search of more goals, the first-half ended 1-0.
The hosts came out after the break with a vengeance and doubled the score through midfielder Diskerud, whose screamer from outside the box in the 56th minute sailed into the top right hand corner.
Two minutes later, Diskerud struck again with another long-range attempt off a cross from Kim In-sung.
Midfielder Dong-kyeong then made it 4-0 when he slotted home another cross from In-sung in the 70th minute.
Ulsan Hyundai’s wrapped up their goal fest when Junior found the net in the 86th minute before Nazirul made sure of a consolation goal for Perak in the dying minutes.
