Radio IKIM rebranded to draw more young listeners

SHAH ALAM, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Radio Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (IKIM) has been rebranded with fresh approaches to strengthen the brand name in tandem with current developments.

IKIM (Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia) chairman, Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said the rebranding was initiated to make Radio IKIM the choice radio station, especially among the young.

"Since early January, several approaches were made in this rebranding exercise including introducing a new logo and new tagline, a new talk programme format, changing the abbreviation IKIMfm to IKIM, and boosting the digital radio strategy.

"The rebranding is also undertaken in conjunction with the 27th anniversary of IKIM this year,” he told reporters after the radio's rebranding launch, here, today. Also present was IKIM director-general, Prof Datuk Dr Azizan Baharuddin.

Ahmad Sarji said Radio IKIM’s new logo, officially launched today, could help enhance the corporate image with a clear and more attractive design.

He said the new tagline chosen, ‘Inspirasi Inforia Islami', was aimed at fostering understanding of Islam as well as provide entertainment for the soul, guided by shariah.

"This tagline which replaces the old tagline, ‘Pilihan Utama Anda', has so far drawn more than 1.3 million listeners through 15 (radio) frequencies and the digital platform made available to ease reaching out to all levels of society.

"The listeners have different needs and tastes, but they want the radio programme to be filled with knowledge and provide entertainment as well, which drove us to change its format to meet their tastes” he said.

Ahmad Sarji hoped that listeners would be satisfied with the rebranding and make Radio IKIM their prime choice.
