Earthquake: Malaysians advised to postpone travel to Calayan, Philippines

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysians are advised to postpone their trips to Calayan in Cagayan, Philippines, following the earthquake which hit the region yesterday.

Wisma Putra in a statement today said that no Malaysians were reported to have been injured or directly affected by the 5.5-magnitude quake.

"Malaysians visiting or staying in the area are advised to remain vigilant and keep up with the latest developments and local weather reports," he said.

Malaysians are also advised to follow the directives issued by the local authorities.

Those who require consular assistance are advised to contact the Malaysian Embassy in Manila or the Malaysian Consulate General in Davao, Mindanao.
