Number of flood victims in Melaka reduces

MELAKA, Nov 22 (Bernama) --  The number of flood victims in Alor Gajah dropped to 262 from 72 families as of 8 am compared to 274 from 74 families recorded last night.

Melaka Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) director, Lt Col (Rtd) Effendy Ali said all the affected victims were still housed in a temporary relief centre located at SK Belimbing Dalam.

Floods in the area were believed to have occurred following a four-hour downpour which began at 1.30 am, Monday, he said in a statement here today.

Effendy, who is also the head of the Melaka Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said that the current weather forecast for the state was cloudy with intermittent rain in several areas.
