KUANTAN, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Three journalists of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) from the Pahang Bureau won two categories of the East Coast Expressway (LPT) Journalism Awards organised by ANIH Berhad, the concession company of LPT and took home cash prizes totalling RM15,000 with trophies and certificates.
Pahang bureau chief, Noor Shamsiah Mohamad, journalists Siti Salwa Sha’ari and Mohamad Feisal Mohamed won the grand prize which is the Tan Sri Dr Nik Hussain Abdul Rahman award and took home a RM10,000 cash prize with trophy and participating certificate.
Their article entitled ‘Peronda Jaket Hijau, Hero Tidak Didendang di Lebuh Raya’, beat 59 other participants.
The Bernama effort also won the feature writing category and a cash prize of RM5,000 with trophy and certificate of appreciation.
The awards were presented by Works Minister Baru Bian.
Also present were his deputy Mohd Anuar Tahir and ANIH Berhad executive director Datuk Nik Fauzi Nik Hussein.
The award held for the first time was contested in four categories namely Excellent News Report, Best Featuring Writing, Excellent TV News Award and Excellent Photo Journalism.
It was held as an appreciation of local media personnel for their contributions in disseminating information and highway agenda especially the motorists using the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway and the East Coast Expressway.
