JAKARTA, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Siti Noor Lasah and Nasharuddin Mohamed brought cheers to the national contingent at the 2018 Asian Para Games when they secured Malaysia's first two gold medals today.
Siti Noor contributed Malaysia's first gold medal in the women's 400m T20 event after she clocked 00:59.49s.
"Alhamdulillah, I managed to contribute the first gold for the country," she said, hoping that her victory could help boost other athletes' spirit to achieve the 15 gold medal target at the Games.
In the event held at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, the silver went to host athlete Sesa Elvin Elhudia with 1:01.38s and Charuswat Sukunya from Thailand claimed the bronze medal after clocking 01:06.14s.
Malaysia continued to dominate the 400m T20 event when Nasharuddin bagged the second gold medal for the country in the men's category after recording 00:49.32s.
The silver and bronze medals were respectively won by Indonesians Kolymau Felipus (00:50.28s) and Tine Endi Nurdin (00:50.62s).
