SHAH ALAM, Sept 11 (Bernama) – The situation in the coastal areas in five districts in Selangor that hit by the high tide phenomenon this morning is still under control with no spillover of seawater reported.
Selangor Disaster Management Unit, in a statement, said most of the bunds built along the affected coastal areas were strong and in good condition.
The Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor dan Sabak Bernam are now placed on a high-level of monitoring for possible floods due to the high phenomenon, especially if strong winds and heavy rain occur.
The first wave of high tide is expected to persist until tomorrow along the coastal areas in Selangor, with the sea level to reach 5.4 metres.
According to the statement, the peak of the high tide phenomenon along the coastal areas in Selangor was recorded at Port Klang at 5.4 metres at 6.25 am, but the situation was still under control.
