Special Quota For MAF Personnel, Veterans To Own House Right Step

04/11/2017 08:36 PM
KANGAR Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The provision of special quota of affordable houses by agencies and ministries, besides the Defence Ministry, to Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel and veterans is a step in the right direction to protect their welfare.

Non-Pensionable Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association president Ismail Abidin said the move would give awareness to the MAF personnel to buy their own house although most of them lived in quarters.

"We fully support the proposal of Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and hope more MAF personnel will have their own house." he told Bernama here today.

Last Thursday, Hishammuddin was reported as saying the ministry was targeting to build 25,000 units of affordable houses for MAF personnel and veterans nationwide by 2030, through the SaSar (One Member, One House) programme.

Hishammuddin, who was replying to Tan Sri Annuar Musa (BN-Ketereh) in the Dewan Rakyat said the ministry also held discussions with those implementing the affordable home projects such as the 1Malaysia Public Housing (PPA1M), Federal Territories Affordable Housing (RUMAWIP) and 1Malaysia People's Housing (PR1MA) to consider a quota for MAF members in these projects.
