KUALA TERENGGANU, May 11 (Bernama) -- The driver of a trailer lorry which rammed into a car, killing a man and injuring three others yesterday at the 360.6km of the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2) was freed on police bail.

Dungun police chief, Supt Ahmad Zailani Yaacub said urine test on the driver, who is from Kelantan, found him positive on methampitamine.

"We also conducted blood test on the 43-year-old suspect and recorded his statement for further investigation on the incident," he told Bernama today.

In the 6am crash, a man was killed and his three friends injured when the tin ore-laden lorry rammed into their car in the emergency lane while they were changing a flat tyre.

It is understood the lorry driver subsequently ran away, leaving his vehicle at the scene of the accident.

However, more than six hours later, the suspect surrendered to the police.
