SONGKHLA, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Five grass cutters were killed and another was seriously injured when a car driven by a Malaysian rammed into them in Rattaphum District, Songkhla this afternoon.
In the 3 pm incident (local time), the six were taking a break by the roadside along the Hatyai-Satun road when they were hit by a Perodua Myvi driven by a 30-year-old woman.
The woman and two friends who were travelling from Krabi to Hatyai, Songkhla sustained minor injuries.
Rattaphum district Crime Investigation police chief Pol Col Theva Daoruang said four victims died at the scene while another at Rattaphum Hospital.
He said another severely injured victim was currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
"Initial police investigations found that the driver as believed to have lost control causing the car to skid before crashing into the victims who were sitting by the roadside," he told Bernama.
All victims were aged between 34 to 56 years old.
The lady driver has been detained by the police.
