SHAH ALAM, March 13 (Bernama) -- The RM850 million Central i-City shopping centre in Shah Alam is set to transform the shopping experience of Malaysians when it opens its doors on March 23 to the people of Shah Alam, Klang and surrounding areas.

With Thai-inspired interior design and anchored by its lively, warm and bold personality with a theme of ‘”Illuminated life, Illustrated vibe”, the Central i-City sprawled over 940,000 sq ft net in lettable area, was jointly developed by I-Bhd and Thailand’s Central Pattana Public Company Ltd.

Central Pattana said the shopping centre would have three anchor tenants comprising SOGO, Village Grocer and TGV Cinemas.

“Shoppers will experience SOGO’s first full-fledged store outside of Kuala Lumpur covering over 20,000 sq ft that is spread across four levels. Adding to that, Central i-City will have Village Grocer’s 40,000 sq ft flagship store that will offer a wider range of products.

“The shopping centre also seeks to provide state-of-the-art indoor family entertainment from the new concept TGV Cinemas which will be equipped with the latest audio and visual technology, and an IMAX hall. Adding to the excitement, the cinema will also feature the largest Samsung Onyx LED screen in Southeast Asia,” it said in a statement today.

Among the notable retailers opening on March 23 would be Food Empire, TBM electrical store, Ace Hardware, Padini Concept Store, Brands Outlet, Sportsdirect.com, Popular Bookstore, All IT Hypermarket, Grand palace and many others.

Shoppers would have access to 350 retail shops across six levels, comprising Malaysian and International brands targetting to all age segments and ample car park bays on three levels.

CPN Ventures Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Anthony Dylan said Central i-City’s uniqueness stemmed from its “Centre of Life” aspiration, where it aimed to be the pride of the people in Klang and Shah Alam and a world-class icon for the community to call its own.

“The shopping centre is designed to champion the Central brand as a social haven for Malaysians to celebrate life every day.

“As such, people can expect to see our unique Thai DNA, from how we talk to the way we do our events. Even the overall look and feel of the shopping centre is designed for a shopping adventure unlike any seen in Malaysia before,” he said.

From March 29-May 5, Central i-City would be hosting the “Sawasdee Thailand” event that is endorsed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Malaysia.

Customers would be able to experience an authentic touch of Thai culture through the exhibition of traditional Thai performances, Bangkok Thai food street, Thai pavilion, Thai marketplace, Thai workshops and much more.

Adding to the excitement, the shopping centre would be bringing five of the most popular landmarks in Thailand to Malaysia by introducing 3D photo booths of Wat Chai Watthanaram in Ayutthaya, The Grand Palace of Bangkok, Old Sukhothai City in Sukhothai, James Bond Island in Phang Nga and the famous Thai floating market.
