JOHOR BAHRU, March 28 (Bernama) -- About 3,000 undergraduates from Johor have benefited from the ‘Meh Balik Kampus 2026’ initiative by the state government, aimed at facilitating their return to campus after the festive break.

State Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin said the initiative was implemented following the continued concern of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim in ensuring that the welfare and development of Johor youths remain a priority.

He said a total of 73 express buses were provided as a proactive measure to ensure undergraduates’ journeys are more organised, comfortable and safe.

“Of the total, five buses were flagged off last night for the Northern Zone at TMIYC, Iskandar Puteri, while another 47 buses were flagged off this morning for the Central and East Coast zones at the same location.

“In addition, 21 buses were deployed simultaneously this morning involving several districts, namely in Segamat (Muar, Tangkak and Segamat) as well as in Batu Pahat (Kluang, Mersing and Batu Pahat),” he said in a statement.

He said the phased and comprehensive implementation reflects the state government’s strong commitment to providing a more structured support system for undergraduates.

Aznan said more than 500 Johor undergraduates pursuing their studies in Borneo, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak, were also feted at a gathering at Senai International Airport together with their families.

He said the meaningful atmosphere was evident as parents accompanied their children to the airport and bus departure points as a show of support and care.

The Meh Balik Kampus 2026 initiative involves a total allocation of RM1.4 million.

Meanwhile, he also expressed appreciation to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi for his concern and strong support towards the welfare of undergraduates in the state.
