KUCHING, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- A total of 100 Sarawak civil servants received contributions from the Sarawak branch of the Malaysian Government Officers’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK).
The contributions were presented by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at a breaking-of-fast event with state civil servants at the Multipurpose Hall of the Satria Pertiwi Complex here today.
The assistance, in the form of cash, a box of dates and a piece of kain pelikat or batik cloth, was given under the MAKSAK Cares programme in conjunction with Ramadan this year.
Immediately after the presentation ceremony, Abang Johari and other Muslim guests performed the isyak and tarawih prayers in congregation at the surau of the Satria Pertiwi Complex.
Earlier, he broke fast before performing the maghrib prayer, followed by dinner.
Also present were the Premier’s daughter Dayang Norjihan, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and other state leaders.
