KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Twelve Austrian companies will be participating in the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2026 exhibition and conference this April, said Ambassador of Austria to Malaysia Gerhard Eisl.
He said the Austrian Pavilion is returning to DSA with strong support from Austria’s defence and security industry, showcasing the latest trends and solutions in both these sectors.
“It will be the biggest participation than before. Among the companies coming to DSA 2026 are Glock Gessellschaft MBH, Hirtenberger Defence Europe GMBH and Steyr Arms GMBH,” he told Bernama after appearing as guest on Bernama TV’s The Nation’s Diplomatic Dispatch programme.
DSA 2026 is scheduled to take place from April 20 to 23 at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, during the programme, Eisl said Malaysia appeared to be an attractive market for Austria among Southeast Asian countries, as the country has a skilled workforce, is well-educated, and English is widely spoken.
“Because it is very helpful when you are going to build a factory here, when you know you can speak to everybody in English,” he said.
Eisl added that Malaysia’s strategic central location is another key attraction, enabling businesses to easily reach the wider ASEAN region and even the broader Asia-Pacific market.
The ambassador also noted that Austrian officials will visit Malaysia in April, with foreign policy and trade among the key sectors to be discussed.
