BANGKOK, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- National sprinter Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee proved his debut at the SEA Games was not in vain when he took home the men's 100 metres (m) bronze at the 2025 edition at Supachalasai Stadium, here, today.

Home sensation Puripol Boonson dominated the blue ribbon event in 10s, beating Indonesian representative Lalu Muhammad Zohri with 10.25s while Danish recorded 10.26s to complete the podium.

Danish said he enjoyed competing with Southeast Asian champion Puripol besides successfully renewing his personal best of 10.26s set when winning the 100m gold at the 2025 Malaysian Open in Perlis with 10.18s in the qualifying stage, two hours before the final.

He said tips from national sprinter Muhammad Azeem Fahmi before the competition also boosted his motivation to perform energetically.

"Azeem told me to just do your best and run at your own pace. I also got advice from my parents and friends for this SEA Games.

"Alhamdulillah I was also able to renew my personal best in the heats earlier and for the final I just rely on Allah SWT," he told reporters here, today.

Meanwhile, Kristina Marie Knott of Philippines was crowned the sprint queen of this SEA Games by pulling off a surprise victory over the last edition's women's 100m gold medal winner, Shanti Pereira of Singapore.

Kristina recorded 11.31s to grab the gold, beating Shanti who had to settle for a silver medal in 11.36s and the host runner Khanonta Jirapat won bronze (11.54s).

National sprint queen Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli, meanwhile, finished the challenge in seventh place with 11.81s.

SEA Games Thailand 2025 will take place from 9 to 20 Dec and will involve two regions, namely Bangkok and Chonburi.
