KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- A total of 38 organisations and industries have been named winners of the National Energy Awards (NEA) 2025, which recognise outstanding achievements in sustainable energy development, particularly through the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices.
The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) said NEA 2025 received 173 entries across four main categories: Energy Management, Energy Efficient Buildings, Renewable Energy and Special Awards.
“Eight organisations from various industries were also named recipients of the Green Stewardship Award, recognising their commitment to sustainability by prioritising the use of renewable green energy,” it said in a statement.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof launched the awards presentation here tonight.
The ministry said that 25 organisations among the winners will represent Malaysia at the ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA) 2025, to be held in conjunction with the ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) next month.
According to PETRA, this year’s NEA-winning projects achieved annual energy savings of 128.45 GWh, equivalent to RM68.31 million in operating cost savings, and reduced carbon emissions by 151,590 tonnes — comparable to the yearly planting of more than 31,000 trees.
“These achievements reflect Malaysia’s commitment to making energy sustainability a shared national mission while supporting global climate targets.
“NEA 2025 demonstrates the country’s capability to deliver innovative solutions, compete internationally and drive energy efficiency,” the statement added.
The ministry also urged more organisations and industries in Malaysia to embrace the government’s energy transition agenda.
