SERI KEMBANGAN, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- The Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia (AKM), under the Prime Minister's Department, today received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) following the participation of more than one million participants in a month through the ‘Programme Bicara Kenegaraan’, a programme discussing nationhood.

According to an AKM statement, the achievement reflects the effectiveness of efforts to strengthen the spirit of patriotism among Malaysians.

"The record was made possible by the strong support of the people, and stands as proof that the spirit of nationalism remains intact and continues to grow in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI," it said today.

The MBOR recognition was presented during the culmination of the ‘Citra Apresiasi Aku Kasih Malaysia’ programme held to convey the people's support for national initiatives during the National Month celebrations.

Meanwhile, commenting on the event, AKM director-general Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin said the programme serves as an ideal platform to bring the institution closer to the community.

"AKM is an institution established for Malaysians to elevate the love for the country. This programme involved collective participation so that the National Day becomes a shared aspiration.

"It is a modest effort by AKM to ensure the harmony achieved through independence is preserved, one way being through the arts as a medium," Roslan said when launching the programme at a shopping centre in Taman Equine here today.

The programme also featured the 'Pertandingan Akhir Pantomim Kenegaraan Peringkat Kebangsaan' (the national-level patriotic pantomime competition final), which showcased the creativity of citizens in expressing patriotism for the homeland.

There was also a prize presentation for the national-level 'Ekspresi Merdeka: Video Kreatif Peringkat Kebangsaan' showcasing young talent in producing digital content, which will be featured on AKM's social media before it is considered for release to mainstream media channels.
