SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 4 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- United States (US) artificial intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic has secured US$13 billion in funding, led by ICONIQ, at a post-money valuation of US$183 billion, reported Xinhua.

The Series F fundraising was co-led by Fidelity Management & Research Company and Lightspeed Venture Partners, according to the company.

The company said the investment will be used to expand its capacity to meet growing enterprise demand, deepen safety research, and support international expansion.

"We are seeing exponential growth in demand across our entire customer base," Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao said.

In March, Anthropic raised US$3.5 billion in Series E at a US$61.5-billion post-money valuation.

Anthropic has seen rapid growth since the launch of AI model Claude in March 2023, the company said.

Anthropic is an AI safety and research company best known for developing the Claude chatbot and family of language models. Founded by former OpenAI employees, it focuses on building reliable, steerable AI systems guided by the principles of constitutional AI and long-term alignment.
