KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) – National wushu athlete Tan Cheong Min delivered a silver medal for Malaysia in her appearance at the 17th World Wushu Championships in Brasília.
According to a statement from the National Sports Council today, Cheong Min, who competed in the women’s nandao event, displayed an impressive performance to score 9.726 points, narrowly missing out on gold by just 0.02 points to the world champion from China, who recorded 9.746 points.
The silver medal achievement has reinforced Cheong Min’s reputation as one of Malaysia’s and the world’s top wushu athletes, having previously set multiple records on the international stage.
Meanwhile, another Malaysian representative, Lee Jia Rong, added to the medal tally by winning bronze in the women’s gunshu event with a score of 9.703 points.
The gold medal in the event went to China (9.746) while Macau finished second (9.713).
