JERTIH, June 13 (Bernama) -- Five orphaned siblings received assistance and a visit from Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari today following the deaths of both their parents within six months of each other.

Adly spent about 30 minutes meeting the siblings and their family members at their aunt's home in the Gong Tengah Affordable Housing Scheme here, and also presented a personal contribution to the family.

The siblings were orphaned after their mother, Rohani Ab Rahim, died of lung cancer on June 17, 2024.

Their father, former Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) serviceman Rosli Ab Llah, who served for 13 years, died of a heart attack on Dec 31, 2024, at the age of 41.

The five children are now being cared for by three maternal aunts, with the eldest, Muhammad Danial Haiqal, 19, currently working as a restaurant assistant in Bukit Keluang.

His sisters, Nur Damia Alisya, 16, and Nur Dhia Izarra, 13, are pursuing their studies in Kelantan and Terengganu, respectively, while Nur Dina Raisya, nine, and Darwish Adeeb, four, are being cared for separately by their other aunts.

The siblings currently receive RM800 monthly assistance from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
