KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 (Bernama) -- Police have arrested 15 individuals for filming a promotional video for a clothing store's sixth anniversary sale, which featured dangerous acts involving flares in the Bukit Bintang area.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sazalee Adam said the local suspects, comprising 14 men and one woman aged between 17 and 30, were detained in Batu Caves, Shah Alam, Kajang and Dengkil between 12.30 pm and 10 pm yesterday.

Initial investigations found that the clothing store belonged to one of the suspects, a 24-year-old man who operates the business in Dengkil, while the 24-year-old woman arrested acted as the coordinator for the filming.

"Eight of those detained were hired to perform reckless motorcycle stunts and ignite flares for payments ranging from RM50 to RM700.

All the suspects have been remanded for three days from today, and urine screening tests found all of them negative for drugs," he said at a press conference here today.

Police also seized a rented Ford Raptor four-wheel-drive vehicle and clothing used by the suspects in the incident, which went viral on social media.

Two scrambler motorcycles were also seized as they did not have valid registration and were suitable only for off-road use.

The case is being investigated under Sections 290 and 279 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, Section 6 of the Explosives Act 1957, Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Sazalee advised any party, including non-governmental organisations, intending to carry out filming activities in the capital to obtain prior approval from the relevant authorities to avoid incidents that could endanger public safety and tarnish the country's image.
