Qatar Says It Intercepted Attacks As Iran Targets US Military Sites

CAIRO, Feb 28 (Bernama-dpa) -- Qatar said it successfully intercepted a number of attacks on its territory after Iran targeted military bases used by the United States (US) in several Middle Eastern countries, reported German Press Agency (dpa).

The Qatari Defence Ministry said the situation was under control and urged the public to remain calm. Bahrain's state news agency reported that a US Navy logistics facility had been attacked. Bahrain hosts the US Fifth Fleet.

Explosions were also heard in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, according to reports.
