US Dollar Ticks Up

 NEW YORK, Jan 16 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The US dollar climbed in late trading on Thursday, Xinhua reported.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.19 per cent to 99.323 at 3 pm (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to US$1.1614 from US$1.1636 in the previous session, and the British pound was down to US$1.3386 from US$1.3431 in the previous session.

The US dollar bought 158.54 Japanese yen, higher than 158.5 Japanese yen in the previous session. The US dollar advanced to 0.8031 Swiss francs from 0.8004 Swiss francs, and was up to 1.3893 Canadian dollars from 1.3874 Canadian dollars. The US dollar increased to 9.2263 Swedish kronor from 9.2073 Swedish kronor.
