MyCEB Strengthens Malaysia’s Business Events Presence In Central Asia

KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), with the support of Tourism Malaysia Almaty and the Embassy of Malaysia in Uzbekistan, successfully organised its first MyCEB Sales Call Programme and the Malaysia Business Events Seminars in Almaty, Kazakhstan on June 2 and in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on June 4.

MyCEB said in a statement that the initiatives marked Malaysia’s inaugural dedicated business events engagements in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, reinforcing MyCEB commitment to expanding Malaysia’s presence in emerging international markets and positioning the country as a leading business events destination in Asia.

“The programme brought together representatives from the tourism industry, corporate sector, event organisers and the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

“The engagements served as dedicated platforms to showcase Malaysia’s strengths as a preferred business events destination, highlighting the country’s capabilities in hosting international meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and incentive travel programmes,” the statement said.

During the programme, MyCEB presented highlights on Malaysia’s competitive advantages as an international business events destination, including its world-class infrastructure, modern hospitality sector, extensive international connectivity, competitive value proposition, and strong government support for the business events industry.

Meanwhile, MyCEB chief executive officer Tan Mei Phing said Central Asia represents a promising growth market for Malaysia’s business events industry, with the inaugural engagements in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan aimed at strengthening industry connections, creating new opportunities for collaboration and positioning Malaysia as the preferred gateway for international business events in Southeast Asia.

Tourism Malaysia Almaty Office director Nor Shazly Azmi said that, supported by modern infrastructure, strong air connectivity, government support and a diverse portfolio of world-class venues, Malaysia offers compelling advantages for business events of all scales.

“Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan continue to demonstrate encouraging growth as emerging markets for Malaysia. Improved connectivity and growing interest in Malaysia provide significant opportunities to strengthen tourism and business ties between our regions,” he said.

According to MyCEB, the programme in Almaty also featured a tourism presentation by Tourism Malaysia Almaty, showcasing Malaysia’s leisure, luxury, family and business travel offerings to the Kazakhstan market.

“Participants were introduced to Malaysia’s extensive range of business events offerings, alongside the growing appeal of bleisure travel experiences that combine business and leisure tourism.

“The seminars also facilitated networking and future collaboration opportunities between Malaysian and Central Asian industry stakeholders,” it said.

The programmes highlighted the growing potential for cooperation between Malaysia and Central Asian countries in tourism, trade and business engagement, in line with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, MyCEB added.
