GrandCape Eyes Us$7 Mln Monthly Revenue From Four FFC Production Lines

From Engku Shariful Azni Engku Ab Latif

KULAI, April 21 (Bernama) -- GrandCape (M) Sdn Bhd, a joint venture of Cape EMS Bhd with New Grand Tech (HK) Ltd, is expected to generate US$7 million (US$1 = RM3.95) revenue per month with four current flexible flat cable (FFC) production lines.

Cape EMS managing director and group chief executive officer Christina Tee Kim Chin said the four production lines have covered 70 per cent of market demand.

"So, of course, if the demand is higher, then we can always increase, because this is where we say it is a scalable manufacturing and production technology.

"So we can have one, two, three and four lines and we can copy another four lines (to meet market demand)," she told a press conference after the GrandCape joint venture agreement signing ceremony here today.

GrandCape serves as a dedicated manufacturing and engineering platform for FFC, advanced electronic, artificial intelligence data centre (AIDC), and battery energy storage system (BESS) interconnect solutions.

Cape EMS said in a statement that the initiative accelerates the group’s CEB 2.0 transformation strategy, elevating the company from a traditional assembly provider into an engineering-driven system integrator operating at the convergence of digital infrastructure and advanced energy systems.

"GrandCape is engineered to support the high-performance connectivity required for modern digital infrastructure.

"By manufacturing specialised FFCs, high-density interconnect solutions, and signal integrity components for graphics processing unit (GPU) clusters, Cape EMS is directly embedding itself within the supply chain underpinning hyperscale AI deployments and generative AI model training," it said.

Cape EMS said the company is also expanding its capabilities within the global energy transition through GrandCape by delivering high-reliability interconnect systems for battery modules and large-scale BESS deployments, alongside critical FFC connectivity for electric vehicle (EV) and smart mobility ecosystems.

Tee said the company would focus on building more EV chargers and installing them across Malaysia, which will help drive the growing demand for EV usage in the country.

"We are now focusing with our partner, like EV Connect, to add more EV charger locations, even though we are also putting the mobile direct current (DC) charger that is going to be available in the market.

"We want to install at least 500 EV chargers by this year," she said.

Cape EMS is an electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and engineering manufacturing solutions provider, specialising in box build, precision engineering, surface mount technology and complex system assembly.

Headquartered in Johor with global operations spanning the United States, China, Singapore and the Philippines, Cape EMS serves a diverse clientele across battery energy storage, internet of things smart city hardware and electronic manufacturing sectors.
