Quantum Motion Expands European Presence With New Spain Office
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Quantum Motion has opened a new office in Spain, establishing a permanent base for quantum system development, integration and deployment in the European Union.
The new site, which is located in the newly inaugurated nanoGUNE Quantum Tower, supports the company’s scale-up of silicon-based quantum computing systems and strengthens the collaboration across Europe’s semiconductor, academic and industrial ecosystems.
The facility was officially opened on Feb 4, with the ceremony attended by senior representatives from the Basque Government, regional and municipal authorities, nanoGUNE leadership, and members of Europe’s quantum research and industry community.
“Our expansion in Europe demonstrates our continued commitment to global collaborations and partnerships,” said Quantum Motion chief executive officer, James Palles-Dimmock in a statement.
He said the advanced infrastructure at the Quantum Tower and collaboration with the Basque government, academia and CIC nanoGUNE will accelerate the company’s efforts to deliver commercially viable silicon-spin quantum systems at scale.
Meanwhile, nanoGUNE director-general, Jose M. Pitarke said the new Quantum Tower was built to provide dedicated facilities for quantum hardware research and to support Quantum Motion’s activities, enabling closer collaboration on the future development of quantum computing technologies.
Quantum Motion and CIC nanoGUNE are jointly working on initiatives aimed at delivering fault-tolerant, utility-scale quantum systems in Europe.
These include the QuDos project, a European Research Council Consolidator Grant focused on semiconductor quantum dots for ultra-low-power qubit control and readout electronics, and the SPINS Consortium, which brings together European organisations to develop semiconductor quantum chips with high manufacturing readiness and to integrate quantum and classical electronics on a single chip.
