Shopee Seller Khairul Prepares Early To Tap Ramadan, Hari Raya Demand

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) --  Festive seasons such as Ramadan and Hari Raya are key retail moments in Malaysia, with online shopping activity rising as families prepare for the fasting month and Raya celebrations.

For Shopee sellers such as Mohammad Khairul, founder of Hana Hijabshoppe, this period brings a significant increase in demand, particularly for products tied to cultural and festive traditions, as consumers turn to e-commerce platforms to purchase daily essentials, festive attire and gifts.

With greater emphasis on convenience, product availability and reliable delivery, consumer expectations also shift during Ramadan, particularly closer to Hari Raya, prompting sellers to ensure inventory, fulfilment and storefronts are well prepared to meet higher demand.

Within this context, experienced Shopee sellers like Mohammad Khairul often adopt structured planning methods to navigate the seasonal rush, and these include forecasting fast-moving products, optimising listings and using platform tools to maintain smooth operations and provide an engaging shopping experience.

Mohammad Khairul, a Shopee Bintang seller who has been operating on the platform since 2016 in the Muslimah Fashion category, said preparation for Ramadan typically begins about four weeks in advance, noting that hijab sales can increase by up to 60 per cent during the festive period.

He said he relies on Shopee’s Seller Centre to review past and current sales trends, product performance and order insights, allowing him to identify popular hijab styles and colours and restock items ahead of time.

“Preparation also involves anticipating which styles, colours, and materials will be most popular. Managing everything on my own, I check my sales almost daily through the Seller Centre. It helps me understand what my customers like, so I can restock the right hijabs without guessing,” he said in a statement released by Shopee today.

Based on these insights, Mohammad Khairul structures his inventory to keep popular designs available and sets aside additional stock for the final week of Ramadan, when last-minute shopping activity is typically at its peak. This enables him to make timely adjustments while managing orders, stock and customer enquiries independently.

In addition to inventory planning, he updates product listings by refining titles, descriptions and videos to better showcase fabrics and styling options, helping shoppers make informed decisions at a glance.

Pricing and promotional strategies are also planned to remain competitive, while Shopee Ads are scheduled in advance to increase product visibility during peak weeks.

“Looking back at last year’s sales has almost become a ritual. I love seeing which colours and styles my customers gravitate towards. Participating in past Ramadan on Shopee has been really meaningful for me, not just for growing Hana Hijabshoppe, but for welcoming familiar faces who return each year,” he said.

During Ramadan and the lead-up to Hari Raya, Mohammad Khairul also experiences a surge in customer enquiries alongside higher order volumes.

To manage the busy period, he uses Shopee Live to engage multiple customers at once by demonstrating hijab styles and sharing festive outfit tips, while Shopee Video Feed helps maintain product visibility beyond live sessions.

He also utilises Shopee’s AI-powered tools to manage operations more efficiently, where the AI Chat Assistant handles common enquiries, the AI Cover Optimiser enhances product images, and the AI Summary feature highlights key points from customer reviews to help shoppers make confident purchase decisions.

“These tools make a big difference, especially during the busiest week of Ramadan. I can reach more customers, showcase popular designs and keep orders running smoothly,” Mohammad Khairul said.

He noted that flexibility remains crucial throughout the festive period, as demand and trends can change rapidly and by closely monitoring sales and adjusting inventory, promotions and engagement strategies when needed, he is able to maintain customer satisfaction even after the initial peak.

“Without Shopee, managing orders and reaching customers during Ramadan and Hari Raya would have been overwhelming. The platform’s tools make it easier to boost sales, reach more customers and manage orders efficiently, especially during peak periods,” he added.
