Johor Named NVIDIA Cloud Partner, Signaling Global Confidence In Digital Ecosystem - MB

JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Johor has achieved a historic milestone as global technology giant NVIDIA, in partnership with YTL Corporation, selected the state as one of only five NVIDIA Cloud Partners worldwide.

Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi described the appointment as a significant recognition of global confidence in the state’s digital ecosystem and its potential to emerge as a leading driver of digital transformation in the ASEAN region.

“The Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which leverages the strengths of both Johor and Singapore, positions the state as a strategic gateway for regional digital and artificial intelligence (AI) development.

“The YTL Power–NVIDIA collaboration, valued at RM20.6 billion and announced last December in Kulai, has laid the foundation for Malaysia’s most advanced AI infrastructure,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He added that the mega-project will not only develop the country’s first Large Language Model (LLM) and create thousands of high-tech jobs, but also establish Johor as an ASEAN AI Centre of Excellence, demonstrating its capability to lead regional technological advancement with a clear vision and sustainable strategy.

“The state government is confident the partnership will be further strengthened through the development of multilingual AI models, the establishment of joint testbeds within the JS-SEZ, and the creation of AI talent pipelines to support digital economic growth across the region.

“This strategic initiative is expected to serve as a key driver in Johor’s ambition to become a leading ASEAN hub for artificial intelligence and digital innovation,” he added.
