LABUAN, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia (CILTM) Sabah and Korridor Utility Sabah (KUS) have underlined the importance of close collaboration and coordination to advance utility planning as a central pillar in Sabah’s infrastructure, logistics and development agenda.
CILTM Sabah chairman Daniel Doughty said that through strategic cooperation, both organisations aim to ensure utilities are synchronised with roadworks, industrial zones, urban expansion and logistics hubs.
He said this approach is expected to reduce duplication, avoid delays, and deliver cohesive, efficient and sustainable infrastructure that supports Sabah’s long-term growth.
“The establishment of KUS is a bold step in transforming how Sabah plans its future. Utilities are the hidden lifelines of development... when planned well, they power industries, connect communities and drive logistics efficiency.
“CILTM Sabah is proud to bring our pool of Sabahan experts to support KUS in this mission of building smarter, stronger and future-ready infrastructure,” he said in a statement to Bernama today.
Doughty said CILTM Sabah has a wide pool of Sabahan professionals, resource persons and subject matter experts who are ready to work with KUS to enhance utility planning processes, ensuring they align seamlessly with logistics and transport requirements.
He also highlighted that the establishment of Koridor Utiliti Sabah Sdn Bhd (KUSSB) was formalised on March 2 following a joint venture agreement between Qhazanah Sabah Bhd (QSB) and Karisma Utiliti Borneo Sdn Bhd.
Under the agreement, KUSSB is entrusted with coordinating, planning, regulating and managing utility infrastructure development across Sabah under a one-stop agency (OSA) model.
“This partnership is set to strengthen integrated planning, where utilities are not treated as an afterthought but as a key driver of development, creating a robust, competitive and people-centred economy,” he said.
The collaboration was discussed during a courtesy call by CILTM Sabah, represented by Doughty, former president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Malaysia Datuk Dr Ramli Amir, CILTM Sabah member Alan Wong, to KUS general manager Joharin Zanudin, who briefed the delegation on the corporation’s mandate and direction.
