Toshiba Launches High-Speed 2-Channel Digital Isolators For Automotive Use

KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 (Bernama) -- Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (Toshiba) has launched the “DCM32xx00 Series”, a new line of two-channel high-speed standard digital isolators designed for automotive applications.

According to a statement, the launch includes four devices that support high common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 100 kilovolts per microsecond (kV/μs) and a maximum data transmission rate of 50 megabits per second (Mbps).

All models conform to the AEC-Q100 standard, ensuring safety and reliability for automotive electronic components, with shipments having commenced.

The new isolators address the need for high-speed communication and noise isolation in critical automotive systems, such as on-board chargers (OBC) and battery management systems (BMS) in hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV) and electric vehicles (EV).

Utilising Toshiba’s proprietary magnetic coupling isolation technology, the devices provide strong resistance to electric noise and enable stable signal transmission between input and output.

The devices also feature low pulse-width distortion of 0.8 nanoseconds (ns), making them suitable for high-speed applications such as input/output (I/O) interfaces with controller area network (CAN) communication systems.

Building on its existing four-channel automotive standard digital isolators, Toshiba is now expanding its offerings with the new two-channel models in compact SOIC8-N packages.

The company plans to broaden its range further with additional channels and packages for both automotive and industrial uses, providing high-quality isolation devices and photocouplers that support the reliability and real-time data transmission.
