MNRB Appoints Former AmBank Group CEO Sulaiman As New Chairman

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- MNRB Holdings Bhd (MNRB) has appointed former AmBank Group chief executive officer, Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir as its new non-independent and non-executive chairman, effective today.

Sulaiman will also assume the role of non-independent and non-executive chairman of Malaysian Reinsurance Bhd (Malaysian Re), also effective today.

He succeeds Datuk Johar Che Mat, who resigned from his position as chairman of MNRB and Malaysian Re on Feb 12, 2025.

MNRB said with over 30 years of experience in Malaysia’s financial sector, Sulaiman brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.

“His extensive background in banking and finance, along with his commitment to excellence, will contribute significantly to MNRB’s ongoing growth and development,” it said in a statement today, adding that Sulaiman has held notable leadership positions, including Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd chairman.

Meanwhile, MNRB also extended its appreciation to Johar for his dedicated service and invaluable contributions to MNRB and Malaysian Re.

“Johar will continue to share his expertise and insights within the group as chairman of the group’s subsidiaries, Takaful Ikhlas Family and Takaful Ikhlas General,” it said.
