Saudi Delegation Urges Nations To Prioritise “Greater Good” At WEF 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 (Bernama) -- Saudi Arabia called for global cooperation and dialogue to tackle the challenges of a fragmented world at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah stressed the importance of prioritising the greater good over narrow interests to achieve solutions that benefit all, highlighting the need for unity amid ongoing difficulties.

Discussing the importance of diversifying sources of growth, Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal F. Alibrahim said in a statement: “For the economy to detach itself from relying on oil inflows, the most efficient way to do that in the long-term is to create the space for the private sector to grow more dynamically.”

Meanwhile, the Kingdom’s Minister of Commerce, Dr Majid A. Alkassabi proposed a new global trade framework and highlighted the need to find alternative supply sources to reduce dependency on high-risk regions.

Minister of Tourism, Ahmed A. Al-Khateeb spoke about the ambitious developments under Saudi Vision 2030, focusing on enhancing travel and tourism through infrastructure expansion, new airlines, and improved visitor experiences.

Addressing environmental challenges, Saudi’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel A. Aljubeir spotlighted the Middle East Green Initiative, uniting 22 regional countries to adopt a circular carbon economy.

Minister of Finance, Mohammed A. Aljadaan discussed Saudi Arabia’s proactive steps to de-escalate tensions in the region, which have contributed to ongoing stability and growth.

Saudi Arabia's advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) were also highlighted by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah A. Alswaha, on the Kingdom’s foundational efforts in AI development and its global partnerships to foster inclusive, impactful innovation.

On the other hand, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef showcased Saudi Arabia’s industrial achievements, notably the transformation of a desert into a major petrochemical export hub.
