ST. PETERSBURG, June 7 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Russian athletes have been allowed to compete with the national flag and anthem in 12 Olympic sports, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
"Adult athletes are fully permitted to compete with the flag, anthem, and national symbols in 12 Olympic sports: judo and wrestling, swimming, synchronised swimming, diving and water polo, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, boxing, taekwondo, and fencing," Chernyshenko said.
He noted that Russia saw a willingness for dialogue on the part of the International Olympic Committee.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held from June 3 to 6. RIA Novosti is the forum's general information partner.
