1 LAO-INDIA STRENGTHEN TRADE RELATIONS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Laos and India marked 70 years of diplomatic ties by signing defence, health and cultural agreements in New Delhi on Wednesday. The agreements were signed during the 10th Joint Commission Meeting on Bilateral Cooperation.

 

2.SIPHANDONE TO BE MAJOR TOURISM DESTINATION -- VIENTIANE TIMES

A 10-year master plan to transform Nakasang, Done Deth and Done Khone islands into green tourism destinations has been launched. It is the government’s long-term strategy to develop the Siphandone archipelago.

Vice-President U Nyo Saw said that Myanmar is strategically located at the crossroads of East Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia. It serves as a natural land bridge connecting regional markets and facilitates trade.

 

2.SCALING UP MAIZE EXPORTS AMID RISING PRICES -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Myanmar Corn Industrial Association aims to export 1.3 million metric tonnes of maize this year as the crop fetches favourable prices in the market. Maize is mainly exported to Thailand, the Philippines and India.

PH, DUTCH NGO INK 5-YEAR DEAL TO RID PASIG RIVER OF PLASTIC WASTES -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY The Philippine government has signed a five-year partnership with Rotterdam-based non-profit group The Ocean Cleanup to remove floating waste from the Pasig River and use low-cost innovative technologies to reduce plastic pollution before it reaches Manila Bay and the ocean.

1. SINGAPORE AIRLINES IN TALKS FOR MAJOR NEW JET ORDER, SOURCES SAY - CNA

Singapore Airlines (SIA) is in talks with Airbus and Boeing to buy at least 50 of the industry's biggest jets, as it plans a next phase of growth from next decade, two industry sources said.

The domestic consumer market is on a strong growth momentum in the first five months of 2026. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached US$120 billion (RM482 billion) during the January–May period.

 

2.HIGH DEMAND FOR SOVEREIGN BONDS -- VIETNAMPLUS

The State Treasury raised US$1.27 billion (RM5 billion) through 17 government bond auctions held at the Hanoi Stock Exchange in May. Most of the bonds issued were medium- and long-term, primarily with maturities of five and 10 years.
