5.3-MAGNITUDE QUAKE HITS OFF SOUTH COAST OF MYANMAR

YANGON, May 18 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 jolted near the south coast of Myanmar at 02:05:25 GMT on Monday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said, reported Xinhua.

The epicentre, with a depth of 10.0 kilometres, was initially determined to be at a latitude of 16.56 degrees north and at a longitude of 96.40 degrees east.

Strong tremors were felt in Myanmar's Yangon on Monday morning.
