KEPALA BATAS, May 9 (Bernama) -- Unity among component parties in the Unity Government must be maintained to ensure political stability and continuity in the country’s administration.
Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the fall of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government after the 14th General Election (GE14) should serve as a lesson, particularly in avoiding internal divisions that could undermine the people’s mandate.
“What is important is that the unity we have built must be maintained. If the government fails, it will not be due to external attacks, but because of our own internal problems,” he said when speaking at a ceramah on current issues here last night.
The Agriculture and Food Security Minister said all parties within the government must support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and resolve any differences through internal channels rather than debating them openly.
“The current Prime Minister is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. If anyone aspires to become Prime Minister, follow the party and election process, not through ‘backdoor’ attempts,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohamad also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between PH and Barisan Nasional (BN), as the formula had proven capable of creating political stability in the country while enhancing their chances of victory in the next election.
He said that although the two coalitions were once political rivals, many issues can now be resolved through negotiations without triggering open polemics.
