HYDERABAD, May 5 (Bernama) -- The Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) has elected new office-bearers for 2026-2027.
Mohammad Anwar Shahid, managing director of Shimex International Ltd, has been elected president of the Dhaka-based trade body and Syed Moinuddin Ahmed, managing director of GD Assist Limited, will be its secretary general.
"The newly elected leadership is set to steer the chamber toward strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia," the BMCCI said in a statement.
"I am deeply honoured and feel a profound sense of responsibility as I take on the role of president of BMCCI. Since its inception, BMCCI has played a crucial role in elevating the bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Malaysia to new heights," Anwar Shahid said.
He replaces veteran businessman Shabbir A. Khan as the chamber's president.
The BMCCI's newly-constituted board of directors comprises a distinguished group of industry leaders.
Jaycee Shipping Agency Ltd managing director M.A. Bakar has been elected its senior vice-president, while Shaikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun, chief executive officer of Aero Speed International Limited, and Mohammad Arfatur Rahman, proprietor of Arafat Motors and Machineries, have been elected as vice-presidents.
M. Mahmudur Rashid, managing director of Grasshopper Corporation, and Mohammad Mamunur Rahman, chief executive officer of EXPOPRO, will be the BMCCI's new joint secretary generals, and WorldBD Trade Ltd chairman Ahmed Kabir will be its treasurer.
